East Coast Coastal Road (Pohang), Riding along the Backbone!

The East Coast Coastal Road is a driving route along National Route 7 that spans over 500 km, accompanied by the deep blue East Sea. Following the scenic sea route along the eastern side of the Korean Peninsula, it passes through beautiful coastal cities starting from Goseong and running through Sokcho, Yangyang, Gangneung, Donghae, Samcheok, Uljin, and Yeongdeok, all the way to Pohang, Ulsan, and Busan. Among these, Pohang, located at the eastern end of Korea bordering the East Sea, is a great place to enjoy a majestic, beautiful ocean, pristine natural scenery, and urban landscapes all at once. It also offers the irresistible charm of a breathtaking sunrise over the sea.    Homigot

   호미곶

   When the Korean Peninsula is depicted as a tiger, Homigot corresponds to the tail jutting outward. It is a signature tourist attraction in Pohang and a sacred spot for watching the sunrise. The Hands of Harmony (the right hand), an art sculpture rising out of the sea, is the iconic symbol of Homigot. Homigot is also home to the largest lighthouse in Korea, the Homigot Lighthouse.    Guryongpo Modern History Street

   This themed street was created by renovating a neighborhood where several Japanese-style houses remained from the Japanese colonial period. The residence of Hashimoto Zenkichi, who once lived here, is now used as a modern history museum, and Japanese-style restaurants, tea houses, an elementary school, and mailboxes from that era are recreated throughout the street.
