   Welcome to Dongmakgol Village in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, is well known as the filming location for director Park Kwang-hyun's movie 'Welcome to Dongmakgol.' Depicting the confrontation and reconciliation among South Korean soldiers, North Korean soldiers, and Allied forces, the film drew 8 million moviegoers nationwide and won Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress awards at prestigious film festivals at home and abroad. Following its box office success, more than 100,000 tourists visit the site each year. The well-preserved filming location brings the movie's scenes vividly back to life, featuring the Dongmak Wind Cave (the entrance to an old coal mine), Teacher Kim's house, a pavilion tree over 500 years old that served as a place of harmony transcending ideology among South Korean soldiers, North Korean soldiers, and villagers, as well as the crashed American fighter plane. A variety of hands-on activities are available here, including touring the filming location, trying on movie costumes, and tasting gondeure-bap (seasoned thistle rice) and trout sashimi.    Rafting is a leisure sport in which 6 to 8 people on a rubber boat work in unison to navigate through river rapids. Introduced to Korea in the 1990s, rafting has now become highly popular as an outdoor training program for corporate workshops, schools, and group retreats. In particular, if you plan to go rafting at one of Korea's top three rafting destinations—Donggang River (Pyeongchang, Yeongwol, and Jeongseon areas), Hantangang River (Cheorwon and Yeoncheon), or Naerincheon Stream (Inje)—it is effective to gather information about the river's characteristics and surroundings in advance. Jintannaru Ferry in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, a representative hub for Donggang rafting, is where valley waters flowing past Suha Valley to Maha-ri join the Donggang River. Most Donggang rafting courses depart from here, pass through Hwangsaeyeoul Rapids, Ambanyeoul Rapids, Munhui Village, Baengnyong Cave, and Chilmokryeong Pass, and return to Jintannaru Ferry in a long journey taking about 4 hours.
