Goseong, an Ecological Treasure Trove: 'Sottongnyeong Village'

Sottongnyeong Village is situated on a gentle hill between Jinbu-ri, Ganseong-eup, Goseong-gun, and the Jangsin Amusement Area. The trekking course traversing this pass is approximately 3.4 km long, offering an unpolluted, pristine forest trail that serves as an ecological treasure trove. Sottongnyeong was originally called Sodongnyeong, meaning 'small eastern pass.' In addition to seasonal experiences such as harvesting wild edible greens and pine mushrooms, activities like making sotdae (wooden birds on poles) and jangseung (village guardian totems) are popular. A peaceful day in Goseong continues with visits to the Unification Observatory and DMZ Museum to wish for peaceful reunification, and concludes at Cheongganjeong Pavilion, an iconic pavilion of Goseong.
