Sokcho, Scent of Peace and Freedom, Oeongchi Badahyanggi-ro

Opened after 65 years, the entire section of 'Badahyanggi-ro,' which was previously a civilian-restricted zone, has been opened to the public. Starting from Oeongchihang Port and Oeongchi Beach, it is an out-and-back coastal walking trail rather than a loop. The ocean scenery viewed from the observatory at Oeongchihang Port at sunset is renowned for its beauty. Stretching 1.74 km in total and taking about 30 minutes, the trail offers a fantastic view that harmonizes unique rock formations, pine trees, and the ocean. It is organized into various themed paths, including the Security Experience Trail, Rock Observation Trail, Sky Deck Trail, and Bamboo Meditation Trail. After walking along the peaceful Badahyanggi-ro, you can continue past Namaehang Port all the way to Gangneung Unification Park to soak in the atmosphere of peace and freedom. Gangneung Unification Park is located midway between Aninhang Port in Aninjin-ri and Deungmyeong Beach. Its main facilities include the Unification and Security Exhibition Hall and the Warship Exhibition Hall.
