   Dasolsa Temple

   Dasolsa is a historic ancient temple founded by the Indian monk Yeongi Josa during the reign of King Jijeung of Silla. It was destroyed by fire during the Imjin War, but 10 years later, in the 12th year of King Sukjong (1686), Buddhist monks joined forces to rebuild and revive it over a span of 10 years. However, 62 years later, in the 24th year of King Yeongjo (1748), it unfortunately suffered a disaster due to a major fire. In the 34th year of the same king's reign (1758), several monks joined forces again to rebuild Myeongbujeon Hall, Daeyangnu Pavilion, and Sawangmun Gate. Another fire broke out in December 1914, burning down all hall structures, but fortunately Daeyangnu Pavilion survived.    Jomyeonggunchong Tomb

   Jomyeonggunchong Tomb is the resting place for the souls of the victims who perished in the final battle fought by the allied forces of Joseon and Ming China to drive out the Japanese enemy stationed at Seonjinriseong Fortress (then called Sinchae) during the Jeongyujaeran (Second Japanese Invasion) in the 30th year of King Seonjo's reign (1597). The tomb is a square mound measuring 36㎡ on each side and was commonly referred to as the 'Dangbyeong Tomb' or colloquially called 'Daenggangmudaegi.' Until liberation, a stone marker about 1 meter high inscribed with '[Dangbyeong Gongyangtap]' stood atop the mound, but it disappeared after liberation. However, this tomb alone has been well preserved in its original form for about 400 years, and today, a memorial monument for the fallen soldiers of the Joseon-Ming Allied Forces stands in front of the tomb.MoreLess
