   Jindodaegyo Bridge

   Completed in 1984, Jindodaegyo Bridge holds far greater significance than just a bridge connecting the mainland and the island. It is also famous as a tourist attraction for its beautiful sunset and night view. The bridge spans over Uldolmok Strait, where the Battle of Myeongnyang took place. Uldolmok is a narrow strait between Haenam and Jindo about the width of the Hangang River, but its tidal current flows at up to 11 knots, the fastest in the East. Looking down toward Uldolmok from the bridge, you can see foaming water and hear roaring waves.    Jindo Ganggangsullae Site

   Driving along the coastal road from Jindodaegyo Bridge, you will come across the Jindo Ganggangsullae Site. Walking up the stairs, you will find it situated on a hill overlooking Uldolmok. Ganggangsullae, which used to be performed very commonly in Jindo, was a play exclusively for women, mainly danced on the night of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving). It is a folk game where young women of childbearing age formed a circle under the full moon and danced to pray for the grain in the fields to ripen well and bring a bountiful harvest. During the Battle of Myeongnyang, Admiral Yi Sun-sin utilized Ganggangsullae as a deceptive military tactic.    Yongjangsanseong Fortress

   In Jindo, there is a fortress where the Sambyeolcho military unit resisted government forces and the Mongol army during the Goryeo Dynasty. It is Yongjangsanseong Fortress, designated as National Historic Site No. 126. When Goryeo King Wonjong signed a humiliating peace treaty following the Mongol invasion and returned the capital to Gaegyeong, the Sambyeolcho forces, who opposed this, proclaimed Wonjong's second cousin On as king and moved down to Jindo to resist. Through a village landscape project, the roofs of each house were converted to tile-roof styles, giving the village the ambiance of a traditional hanok village when viewed from afar.    Ullimsanbang

   Ullimsanbang is the cradle of Jindo painting and the place where Sochi Heo Ryeon (1807–1892), a master of Korean Southern School painting (Namhwa), lived and painted. The name Ullimsanbang is said to have been inspired by the mist rising morning and evening, forming a forest of clouds in the deep valley surrounded by numerous peaks of Cheomcheolsan Mountain. Featuring a beautiful pond with a small islet in the center, it was selected as one of the '100 Must-Visit Tourist Spots in Korea.'
