   Pagoda Tree of Haemieupseong Walled Town, Seosan

   서산해미읍성회화나무

   Located inside Haemieupseong Walled Town, this pagoda tree is estimated to be around 300 years old and has been designated as Chungcheongnam-do Monument No. 172. Behind this tree once stood a prison where Catholics were held, and it is said that between 1790 and 1880, imprisoned Catholics were hung from the eastward branches of this tree and tortured. The eastern branch broke in the 1940s and the main center trunk broke during a storm on June 26, 1969, but the tree is now protected and managed through several surgical treatments and soil improvements.    Seosan Ganworam Hermitage

   Ganworam Hermitage is a small hermitage located in Ganwoldo-ri, Buseok-myeon. It is said to have been founded in the early Joseon Dynasty by Monk Muhak and rebuilt by Monk Song Man-gong. Unlike other hermitages, it is a mysterious place that connects to the mainland at low tide and turns into an island at high tide, giving the impression of floating on water when the tide is in. Blending ancient ancestral history with beautiful surrounding nature, this ancient temple continuously attracts visitors. Additionally, the Gulbureugi Gunwangje Festival, a ritual praying for a bountiful oyster harvest on Ganwoldo Island, is held every year at high tide during the first full moon of the lunar year in front of the Eoriguljeot (Salted Oysters) Monument in Ganwoldo-ri.
