   Juknokwon (Bamboo Garden)

   Juknokwon (Bamboo Garden) is a bamboo grove visible immediately to the left past the hyanggyo (local Confucian school) adjacent to Gwanbangjerim Forest and Damyangcheon Stream, the source of the Yeongsan-gang River. Damyang-gun landscaped the Seonginsan Mountain area to create this dense bamboo forest spanning approximately 160,000㎡, which opened in May 2003. Stepping up the stone stairs one by one from the entrance relaxes the stiff body, while the breeze blowing through the bamboo revitalizes a weary mind and body.    Korea Bamboo Museum

   The Korea Bamboo Museum was established to preserve the tradition of bamboo culture and promote craft arts by providing a comprehensive space for preserving, exhibiting, demonstrating, selling, and experiencing bamboo products in Damyang, the nation's only major bamboo production center and a famous origin of traditional bamboo folk crafts. First opened in Damju-ri, Damyang-eup in 1981, it expanded and relocated to its current site in Cheonbyeon-ri, Damyang-eup on March 12, 1998.    Gamagol Eco Park

   Located in the northernmost part of Damyang, Gamagol was named after the many pottery kilns (gama) that once dotted the area. With its multiple deep valleys, waterfalls, and bizarre rock formations creating picturesque scenery, visitors constantly flock here. It is home to Yongso, famous as the source of the Yeongsan-gang River, and has been designated and developed as a tourist attraction since 1986, offering well-equipped facilities for visitors.    Damyang Metasequoia-lined Road

   담양 메타세쿼이아길

   The Metasequoia-lined Road connecting Sunchang to Damyang is where the scene in the movie 'Wanee & Junah' was filmed, where Wanee rides in a car with her father. It was originally National Route 24, but after a new bypass road opened right next to it, this section was turned into a trail for walking or cycling. The total length of the tree-lined road is about 8.5 km, with 10- to 20-meter-tall metasequoia trees planted along both sides. This road was established in the early 1970s during a nationwide roadside tree-planting project, where Damyang-gun planted 3- to 4-year-old metasequoia saplings that have now grown into this lush green tunnel.MoreLess
