   Utdari Cultural Village

   Opened in August 2006 as a culture and arts experience center, Utdari Cultural Village was established by Pyeongtaek City and the Pyeongtaek Cultural Center by renovating the closed Geumgak Branch of Seotan Elementary School into a hands-on cultural space.    Jinwihyanggyo Local Confucian School

   Designated as Gyeonggi-do Cultural Heritage Material No. 40 on September 19, 1983, it is said to have been founded in the early Joseon Dynasty to enshrine and pay tribute to the spirit tablets of wise Confucian scholars and to educate local residents. When the original building was destroyed during the Byeongja Horan (Manchu Invasion of 1636), a small thatched-roof house of about two rooms was built to house the spirit tablets, before tile-roofed buildings began to be constructed in 1644 (the 22nd year of King Injo). It has since been renovated multiple times to reach its present state. The school faces south on a sloped site. It follows the layout of 'study area in front, shrine in back' (jeonhak humyo), with the main hall, Daeseongjeon, positioned on higher ground to emphasize its symbolic significance.MoreLess

   In December 1973, a 2 km sea route between Gwon-gwan-ri, Hyeondeok-myeon, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do and Mowon-ri, Inju-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam was blocked by the construction of the Asan Bay Seawall, creating a massive 24 ㎢ lake.
