   Daejeon Museum of History was established as a cultural space for citizens following the development of the Daejeon Doan New Town. Opening on October 16, 2012, it consists of a Permanent Exhibition Hall, Donated Relics Hall, Special Exhibition Hall, and City Promotion Hall. The Permanent Exhibition Hall showcases valuable cultural heritage of Daejeon under the theme of the life and culture of Daejeon's Confucian scholars, while the Donated Relics Hall exhibits artifacts donated by citizens of Daejeon. In addition, the Special Exhibition Hall hosts special exhibitions once or twice a year to provide diverse sights.    Tomb of King Muryeong and Royal Tombs in Songsan-ri [UNESCO World Heritage]

   Located on the southern slope of Songsan (formerly Songsan-ri, Gongju-eup), bordering Geumseong-dong and Ungjin-dong in Gongju-si, these are the tombs of kings and royal family members of Baekje during the Ungjin period (475–538). Originally, there were 17 tombs, but currently only seven have been restored, including the Tomb of King Muryeong and Tombs No. 1 through 6.    Gongju Gongsanseong Fortress [UNESCO World Heritage]

   Located in Sanseong-dong in downtown Gongju, Gongsanseong Fortress was built to defend Gongju, the royal capital for 64 years spanning five reigns from the first year of King Munju's reign (475), when Baekje moved its capital from Hansanseong to Ungjin, until the 16th year of King Seong's reign (538), when the capital moved to Buyeo. Designated as Historic Site No. 12, Gongsanseong Fortress is an ancient fortress with a total length of 2,660 meters, strategically situated along a ridge at an altitude of 110 meters above sea level. It forms a rectangle of about 800 meters east to west and about 400 meters north to south. Originally built as an earthen fortress during the Baekje period, it was rebuilt with stones during the Joseon dynasty. Within the fortress grounds remain royal palace sites presumed to date from the Ungjin period, two ponds from the Baekje era, Yeongeunsa Temple founded during the Goryeo dynasty, Ssangsujeong Pavilion and its monument where King Injo of the Joseon dynasty stayed while taking refuge from the Yi Gwal Rebellion, Jinnammru (South Gate), and Gongbukru (North Gate).MoreLess

   Chungcheongnam-do Forest Museum

   In this remote village that once required a ferry boat to access due to being blocked by Changbyeok Cliff, the Chungcheongnam-do Forest Environment Research Institute relocated here in 1994, designating the surrounding well-preserved, lush forest as the Geumgang Natural Recreation Forest, and the Forest Museum opened in October 1997. Attractions here include the Forest Museum, botanical garden, greenhouse, wildlife park, wildflower garden, pond, and octagonal pavilion, creating facilities worthy of being the largest all-weather nature learning education center in the central region. In particular, the grand building of the Forest Museum was built in the traditional architectural style of Baekje.    Yuseong Hot Springs Special Tourist Zone

   Yuseong Hot Springs is a large-scale hot spring tourist town forming the center of Yuseong-gu, located about 11 km west of downtown Daejeon. The hot spring water of Yuseong is formed in a granite fault fracture zone between 50 and 400 meters deep and is a high-temperature thermal spring of about 27–56°C erupting from more than 200 meters underground along the fault fracture layers of granite. It contains about 60 kinds of minerals and is renowned as a weakly alkaline simple spring with a pH of 7.5–8.5 containing no heavy metals.
