Experience Safety

Located in the Jangseong district of Taebaek, 365 Safe Town is a safety experience theme park built on the motto, 'Safety is not about learning, but experiencing.' Educational and hands-on programs are conducted across five safety-themed pavilions: Wildfire, Heavy Snow, Wind and Flood, Earthquake, and Counter-Terrorism, simulating diverse scenarios. Fire safety education provides practical training, allowing visitors to learn in detail how to use fire extinguishers and perform CPR.

   Taebaek Sangjang-dong Mural Village

   Located in Sangjang-dong, Taebaek-si, the Coal Mining Story Village (Nambu Village) is a community-led initiative that began in 2011 as part of the Taebaek New Village Movement, shaped by the voluntary labor and talent donations of its residents. As the alleys came to life, the once somber atmosphere of the village marked a new turning point, spreading warm love through meaningful events such as the Love Briquette Drawing Contest, in which students and families participated. On April 12, 2013, KORAIL began operating the O-train (Central Inland Circle Train). Visitors can take this tourist train traveling at speeds of 165 km/h to reach the mural village.MoreLess

   Hwangji Pond

   Located in the heart of downtown, Hwangji Pond is the headwaters of the 1,300-ri (approx. 510 km) Nakdonggang River, whose springing waters flow grandly across the vast Yeongnam Plain. Divided into Sangji (Upper), Jungji (Middle), and Haji (Lower) ponds with a total circumference of 100 meters, it yields around 5,000 tons of water daily and was once used as a water supply source. A legend says that when the wealthy Mr. Hwang gave a shovel of manure instead of alms to an old Buddhist monk who asked for charity, the heavens and earth shook, turning his house site into a pond.    Taebaek Paleozoic Natural History Museum

   The area around Gumunso is designated as Natural Monument No. 417 under the name 'Early Paleozoic Strata and Fluvial Topography,' featuring widely distributed sedimentary strata formed in the warm Paleozoic ocean. It is also the only place in Korea where early Paleozoic stratigraphy can be continuously observed alongside mid-Paleozoic unconformity surfaces, attracting great attention from academia. In particular, numerous fossils including trilobites, brachiopods, graptolites, mollusks, and conodonts have been discovered here, making it a veritable treasure trove of Paleozoic fossils in Korea.    Gumunso

   When the waters of Hwangjicheon Stream, the upper reaches of the Nakdonggang River, reached this point, they pierced through a massive mountain, creating a stone gate (石門) and forming a deep pool (沼), which came to be known as Gumunso. From Jagyeru Pavilion at Gumunso, visitors can take in the Eight Scenic Views of Gumun, including Madangso Pool, Samhyeongje (Three Brothers) Waterfall, and Dakbyeosulbawi (Rooster's Comb Rock). It is also called Ddurunae because the river water pierces through the mountain and flows, offering exceptional natural scenery harmonized with towering pine trees. Gumunso is a large limestone cave measuring 20 to 30 meters in height and approximately 30 square meters in area. With Jagyeru Pavilion perched atop the stone gate and framed by rugged cliffs, it has long attracted poets and scholars throughout history.
