   It is said that an elderly woman selling eel soup in Odong-dong, Masan, began steaming anglerfish brought by fishermen with doenjang (soybean paste), gochujang (red chili paste), garlic, and scallions, applying the recipe for steamed dried pollack to anglerfish. After tasting it, she found it delicious and began offering it to regular customers as a snack to accompany drinks, marking the birth of agujjim (braised spicy anglerfish). It is believed that various vegetables such as bean sprouts and water dropwort began to be added to the dish in the mid-1960s.
