Winter Heats Up with Bobsled Snow Sledding

In Daegwallyeong, the main stage of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, you can enjoy snow sledding in Olympic style. It is known as bobsled snow sledding because the slope winds and turns just like a real bobsled track. Sliding down on a tube is thrilling enough to make even adults shout with excitement.    Snow Town is a small agricultural and mountain village nestled at the foot of Hwangbyeongsan Mountain, a high peak of the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range. Located at a high elevation, it was the starting point of high-altitude highland farming in Korea and features well-developed ranches. It is also the birthplace of Korean skiing and is home to the Pyeongchang Hwangbyeongsan Hunting Folk Culture, designated as Gangwon-do Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 19, instilling pride in local sports and culture.    [Gangneung Bau-gil Section 2] Daegwallyeong Old Road stretches for 15 km. Walking along the sheep ranch at first is the same as Section 1. At the 0 km mark, the path turns toward the Guksa Seonghwangdang Shrine and continues along the Daegwallyeong Old Road. This is the very road where Shin Saimdang walked holding the hand of young Yulgok while longing for her mother. Songgang Jeong Cheol walked this path and wrote Gwandongbyeolgok, and Kim Hong-do painted a scenery of Daegwallyeong halfway along this road.
