   Chungju Dam, Korea's largest concrete multipurpose dam, connects Jongmin-dong and Jodong-ri in Dongnyang-myeon, Chungju. Built across the Namhangang River, it serves to secure water resources, prevent flood damage, and generate hydroelectric power. At the top of the dam's left bank are a water exhibition hall, a memorial monument, and rest areas, while the right bank features a waterwheel rest area, a helipad, and Chungju Pier, where visitors can board Chungjuho Lake cruise ships. Chungjuho Lake, formed by the dam, attracts many tourists who enjoy scenic cruises.    Chungju Tangeumdae and Tangeumdae Park

   Tangeumdae was originally a hill called Daemunsan, boasting breathtaking scenery with dense pine forests and the Namhangang River flowing gently around rugged cliffs. The name Tangeumdae comes from Ureuk, one of Korea's three greatest musicians, who played the gayageum (traditional 12-string zither) here during the reign of King Jinheung of Silla. About 1,400 years ago during King Jinheung's reign, the Gaya musician Ureuk was among the many Gaya people forced to relocate here after the fall of his homeland. Living among the rocky cliffs of Tangeumdae, Ureuk spent his days admiring the scenic landscape and playing the gayageum.
