Sorae Port has a painful past and is also a tourist destination created by that painful history. Its development began in the late 1930s when a railway was built to exploit high-quality salt, a raw material for gunpowder, from this region. After liberation, displaced people gathered here to catch shrimp using one or two non-motorized boats and made salted seafood.    Incheon Chinatown was established after the opening of Incheon Port in 1883, when this area was designated as an extraterritorial zone for the Qing Dynasty in 1884.    In Incheon Chinatown, onggibyeong is just as popular as jjajangmyeon. Baked in a large clay pot-shaped kiln, it is also called hwadeok mandu (oven-baked dumplings) in Korea. Although called a dumpling because fillings such as minced meat and vegetables are placed inside dough, it is baked directly on the inner wall of a fired clay kiln, giving it a shape and texture completely different from ordinary dumplings and much closer to bread.    Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village

   Songwol-dong was formerly called Solgol or Songsan due to its abundance of pine trees, but earned its current name because the moon viewed through the pine forest was so scenic. After Incheon Port opened in 1883, foreigners, including Germans, began residing here, forming an affluent neighborhood. However, starting several decades ago, younger generations moved away, leaving mostly elderly residents behind; the neighborhood lost its vitality and languished, with vacant houses left abandoned.
