As an architectural structure from early Joseon, its architectural significance was recognized when it was designated as Treasure No. 165 in 1963. It is said that Yulgok Yi I was born here in the Mongryongsil room. Within the grounds are Ojukheon House, Munseongsa Shrine, the Sarangchae (men's quarters), Eojegak Pavilion, the Yulgok Memorial Hall, and the Gangneung City Museum.
