Touring Geojedo Island: Geoje Hakdong Camping Site

This is a seaside camping course on Geojedo Island. With many attractions to explore nearby, if you prefer a quiet camping experience, it is advisable to book in advance to secure a relatively spacious site. Although it is a bustling campsite accommodating many visitors, it offers plenty to see, including the pebble beach right in front, a nearby recreational forest, and the camellia forest of Geojedo Island.

   Hakdong Auto Campging Site

   Hakdong Auto Camping Site is a modern campsite established in June 2013 by the Korea National Park Service with various auxiliary facilities to promote a sound camping culture at Hakdong Mongdol Beach. It offers a total of 174 camping spaces, including 103 auto-camping sites with adjacent parking and 71 general camping sites. A wide range of convenient amenities for campers is provided, such as shower facilities, dishwashing stations, electrical facilities, eco-friendly experience facilities, and Wi-Fi zones. In addition, famous Gyeongnam tourist destinations like Hakdong Mongdol Beach, Oedo Island, Windy Hill, Haegeumgang, and Sinseondae are gathered nearby, allowing visitors to enjoy both camping and sightseeing.    Geoje Natural Recreation Forest

   Located at an altitude of 565 meters on Nojasan Mountain in Gucheon-ri, Dongbu-myeon, this recreation forest spans an area of 120 hectares. An observatory at the mountain summit offers views of the entire Geoje area, the numerous islands of Hallyeohaesang National Park, coastal cliffs with unique rock formations, and even Tsushima Island in the distance.    Camellia Forest and Fairy Pitta Breeding Ground in Hakdong-ri, Geoje

   Located along National Route 14 in Hakdong-ri, Dongbu-myeon, Geoje-si, this camellia forest is designated as Natural Monument No. 233. The fairy pitta arrives around mid-June every year to nest, and its distinctive birdcall makes it identifiable by sound alone. In addition, the camellia forest, an evergreen woodland that stays lush year-round, blooms from November to the following June, with each flower falling after about ten days.    Hakdong Black Pearl Mongdol Beach

   Measuring 1.2 km long, 50 m wide, and covering an area of 30,000 square meters, this beach is filled with rounded pebbles that resemble black pearls. Walking along this pebble beach, especially in summer, provides an acupressure effect beneficial for health. Unlike other beaches on the southern coast, the water here is deep and the waves can be rough, requiring some caution; however, marine leisure sports such as banana boating are well-equipped.    Named Hakgol or Hakdong because cranes visited every autumn due to the dense pine trees, Hakdong features a wild camellia colony, designated as Natural Monument No. 233, stretching along approximately 3 km of coastline including the pebble beach. In particular, between June and September, the rare fairy pitta, known to inhabit Geoje, is famous here.
