   Passing along Sapyeong-ro at the southern end of Banpo Bridge in Seoul and turning onto Seorae-ro beside the Palace Hotel, a village of luxury villas comes into view. This is Seorae Village, located across parts of Banpo 4-dong and Bangbaebon-dong in Seocho-gu. It is said that the area was named 'Seorae Village' because the stream in front of the village wound and meandered (seori-seori), while residents of nearby Manwigol around the current Public Procurement Service called it 'Seoae' (meaning 'western cliffside') as it was a neighborhood by the western waters backed by a sheer mountain (Cheongnyongsan Mountain), which later went through phonetic changes to become 'Seorae.'    Located around San 93, Banpo 4-dong, Seocho-gu, this park was originally a hillside overgrown with black locust trees. In 2000, as the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Waterworks Authority carried out reservoir construction to ensure a smooth water supply to the Banpo area, Seocho-gu consulted with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to create 'Montmartre Park' to provide a recreational space for residents.
