   Geumsan Mountain in Namhae

   Geumsan Mountain was originally called Bogwangsan Mountain after Great Monk Wonhyo built a temple named Bogwangsa here. However, in the late Goryeo period, after King Taejo Yi Seong-gye ascended the throne following a 100-day prayer on this mountain, it was renamed Geumsan (meaning 'Silk Mountain') to signify cloaking the mountain in eternal silk in gratitude for its spiritual grace. Although Namsan is the only large-volume granite mountain in the Dadohae Archipelago, it possesses strong characteristics of an earthen mountain, hosting the largest deciduous forest colony along the southern coast.
