   Daewonsa Temple (Valley)

   Daewonsa Valley is a place where you can listen to a harmony of mother nature, blending the clear stream winding around bizarre rock formations, the sound of the wind brushing past lush pine and broadleaf forests, and the chirping of mountain birds. Stretching approximately 30 ri (about 12 km), the valley is formed by mountain streams originating from across the ridges of Jirisan Mountain—from Cheonwangbong Peak through Jungbong and Habong, past Ssukbatjae, Saejae, Wangdeungjae, and Bammeorijae, leading all the way to Ungseokbong Peak—smoothing the rocks as they flow down.    Tomb of King Guhyeong

   구형왕릉

   This is a stone tomb believed to be the resting place of King Guhyeong, the 10th ruler of Gaya. Also known as Guhae or King Yang, he was the great-grandfather of General Kim Yu-sin. He became the king of Gaya in 521 and ruled for 11 years until surrendering his territory to King Beopheung of Silla in 532. There have been two theories regarding this structure: that it is a stone pagoda, or that it is a royal tomb. The theory regarding it as a pagoda is based on similar structures distributed across the Andong and Uiseong regions. The basis for the royal tomb theory comes from records in Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam (Augmented Survey of the Geography of Korea) and Saneum-hyeon Sancheonjo, which state: 'In the mountains 40 ri from the prefecture, there is a stone hill with stepped tiers on all four sides, which local tradition refers to as a royal tomb.'    Saengcho International Sculpture Park

   Adjacent to the prehistoric Saengcho Ancient Tombs and Eooesan Fortress, the Saengcho International Sculpture Park is a distinctive culture and art park where the ancient and modern harmonize, featuring two recently excavated Gaya-period tumuli alongside roughly 20 modern sculptures from home and abroad. The sculptures installed here were created by world-renowned artists who participated in the Sancheong International Contemporary Sculpture Symposiums in 1999, 2003, and 2005. Eooesan Fortress is located on the low mountain (366.9 m above sea level) above and to the left of the Saengcho Ancient Tombs. Constructed in the early Goryeo period as a stone mountain fortress in the 테뫼형 (ridge-encircling) style, it is said to have served as a base where General Gwak Jae-u, the 'Red-Robed General,' led a righteous army during the Imjin War to score major victories while defending against the advancing Japanese troops.
