   Following the single national highway heading south from Beolgyo in Boseong-gun leads to the Goheung Peninsula. Goheung-gun is composed of the Goheung Peninsula and surrounding islands (19 inhabited islands and 152 uninhabited islands). Jonsimdang Hall remains within the grounds of the Goheung-gun Office along with its main gate, Amun Gate. This building was the dongheon (magistrate's office) of Heungyang-hyeon during the Joseon Dynasty. A dongheon refers to a government office where local magistrates dispatched from the central government conducted administrative affairs for each administrative unit during the Joseon Dynasty.    Ssangchungsa Shrine

   Sorokdo Island

   Sorokdo Island is located less than 1 km from Nokdong Port at the tip of the Goheung Peninsula in Jeollanam-do, and was named Sorokdo because its shape resembles a young deer. This island is famous for housing the National Sorokdo Hospital for Hansen's disease patients. Although it is an island imbued with the historical joys and sorrows of Hansen's disease patients, around 700 patients currently overcome their hardships to cultivate love and hope here today. Even though the island covers an area of only 4.42 km², it is emerging as a new tourist attraction in Goheung-gun thanks to its pristine natural environment, spectacular coastal scenery, and historical monuments.
