Unable to build even a small dock, let alone a breakwater, the villagers began cultivating the barren land for farming. That is how the terraced rice paddies (Scenic Site No. 15), built layer by layer with stone retaining walls, came to be. An experience at Gacheon Daraengi Village begins with exploring these terraced fields, which reflect the relentless perseverance of Namhae locals.    Sangju Silver Sand Beach

   The three-story red brick building along the road easily catches the eye from afar, and Daejung Restaurant is located on its first floor. It is a great place to drop by on the way to Sangju Beach in Hallyeohaesang National Park. When you boil the spicy pufferfish soup (bok maeuntang) served with five or six neat side dishes, the rich broth and chewy texture of the pufferfish will have you finishing a bowl of rice in no time.
