   Gunwi Bugye Hanbam Village Stone Wall Walkway

   In Hanbam Village in Bugye-myeon, Gunwi-gun, the Bugye Hong clan flourished when a scholar named Hong Gwan moved to this village around 950 during the Silla period. Until the Goryeo period, it was called Ilya or Daeya, but in 1390, it was renamed Daeyul by a scholar named Hong Ro who passed the highest civil service examination. Situated at the northern foot of Palgongsan Mountain, it boasts exceptionally beautiful scenery in all directions, and it is characteristic that all the houses in the village are arranged facing north.    Gunwi Triad Buddha Grotto

   군위삼존석굴

   Following the Palgongsan Circular Road from Daegu Metropolitan City up to the summit of Hantijae Pass, the first place you reach is Namsan-ri, Bugye-myeon, Gunwi. Here stands the Triad Buddha Grotto (also known as the Second Seokguram Grotto), founded by Ven. Geukdal in the 15th year of King Soji of Silla. Designated as National Treasure No. 109, the Triad Buddha Grotto reveals the gentle grace of Amitabha Buddha, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva within a natural cave on a sheer cliff. The cave is located 20 meters above the ground, with an entrance 4.25 meters wide and 4.3 meters long. It went unnoticed by the public until the late 1960s, but in the early 1970s, scholars revealed that it was founded more than a century earlier than Gyeongju Seokguram Grotto and served as its prototype, earning recognition for its value as a world cultural heritage.
