Incheon Jung-gu Half-Day Walking Tour

   This is a meeting place of open port history and culture where the traces of 126 years since the opening of Incheon Port in 1883 have accumulated. It is a place where you can see modern architecture preserved as it was, including the Jung-gu District Office (former Japanese Consulate), the Incheon Branch of the First Bank of Japan, the Incheon Branch of the 18th Bank of Japan, and the Incheon Branch of the 58th Bank of Japan. In addition, you can see and hear traces of history firsthand, such as Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Incheon Art Platform, and Jemulpo Club.    Incheon Naedong Anglican Church

   Missionary work began after six missionary coworkers, including Bishop Charles John Corfe (Bishop Goyo-han), a British naval chaplain, set foot in Incheon Port and built the church on September 29, 1890. In 1902, it was temporarily used as the Russian Consulate, and from 1904 to 1956, it operated as an Anglican theological seminary. The original building was destroyed during the Korean War, but it was restored on June 23, 1956, and remains to this day. In terms of architectural form, with the exception of the wooden roof truss, the exterior walls and major structural components are built solidly with granite in a medieval stone style, incorporating traditional Korean wooden eaves styling, with outstanding window, door, and wall treatments.    Located in Incheon Chinatown, Taehwawon's signature dishes are Hyangto Jajang, Sichuan sweet and sour pork, and seafood scorched rice soup. Hyangto Jajang has a special taste, to the extent that it was selected as a designated Hyangto Jajang restaurant by Incheon Metropolitan City in 1998. The Sichuan sweet and sour pork served with red sauce and fruit cocktail is superb, and the seafood scorched rice soup containing various seafoods is also very appetizing.    Jayu Park (Incheon)

   Jayu Park is Korea's first Western-style park, created five years after the opening of Incheon Port. Located on high ground with a spacious area and lush forest, it is ideal for taking a walk. At the summit stands the Centennial Memorial Tower of Korea-U.S. Diplomatic Relations. It was erected in 1982, the 100th anniversary, to commemorate the Treaty of Peace, Amity, Commerce and Navigation signed between Korea and the United States in April 1882. Next to it stands the statue of General MacArthur, honoring his military achievements in leading the Incheon Landing Operation to success during the Korean War. It was completed on September 15, 1957, the 7th anniversary of the successful Incheon Landing Operation.
