   Located in Jongno-gu, Buam-dong is a neighborhood with winding alleys where the sophisticated atmosphere of Samcheong-dong meets the rustic charm of bygone days. In Buam-dong, art museums, unique cafes, and restaurants sit alongside 1960s and 70s-style mill houses and barbershops. Originally, it was a quiet neighborhood where artists from various fields—painters, writers, professors—lived at a leisurely pace.    Daewongun Villa

   Daewongun Villa was originally located at San 16-1, Buam-dong, Jongno-gu, outside Changuimun Gate. In 1958, calligrapher Sojeon Son Jae-hyeong built a house here and relocated the structure to its current position atop a rock in the backyard. At San 16-1 Buam-dong, Seokpajeong (Seoul Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 26), the villa of Heungseon Daewongun Yi Ha-eung from the late Joseon Dynasty, is still preserved today.
