   Gyeongyuldang

   경율당

   In Annam-myeon, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, stands a small Hanok named Gyeongyuldang. It is a village school (seodang) established at the village entrance in 1735 (the 11th year of King Yeongjo of Joseon) by the scholar Jeon Hu-hoe to educate younger generations. Gyeongyul was his pen name. Revered by scholar Yulgok Yi I, he took the pen name Gyeongyul and named the school Gyeongyuldang. The structure has a front of 4 bays and sides of 2 bays with a hipped-and-gabled roof (paljakjibung). An outer veranda (toetgan) surrounds all four sides, and an attic storage space used for keeping books is installed in the rear storage room. An inscription reading '30th Year of Yongzheng, Eul-yu' on the decorative ridge tile confirms that it was built in 1735. MoreLess

   Geumgang Amusement Park

   This resort area is located in Joryeong-ri, Dongi-myeon, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. It is a rest area situated along the Geumgang River, built between the Okcheon and Yeongdong Interchanges of the Gyeongbu Expressway, which opened in 1970. The dam, created by blocking rugged mountains and valleys, boasts beautiful scenery and fresh air, attracting summer vacationers and tourists.    Anteo Prehistoric Park

   Anteo Prehistoric Park offers a glimpse into the prehistoric culture of Okcheon. The park features one dolmen and one menhir (standing stone). The Seoktan-ri Dolmen is the Anteo Dolmen No. 1, excavated in 1977 by the Chungbuk National University Museum from among three dolmens originally located in Anteo Village.    Birthplace of Yuk Young-soo

   Located in Okcheon-eup, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, is the Birthplace of Yuk Young-soo, the final stop of the Hyangsu 100-ri Trail. The house where First Lady Yuk Young-soo was born and raised had fallen into ruin with only the site remaining; it was restored and opened to the public in May 2011. The house was first built and inhabited in the 1600s by a high state minister (Jeongseung) named Kim, and was later referred to as 'Samjeongseungjip' (House of Three State Ministers) because three ministers—Kim, Song, and Min—lived there. In 1918, before Lady Yuk was born, Yuk Jong-gwan purchased it from descendants of Minister Min and repaired it, transforming it into a typical noble (yangban) residence of the Chungcheong-do region during the late Joseon Dynasty. Befitting tales of it being a 99-kan mansion, passing through the main gate reveals the sarangchae (men's quarters), geonneonchae (detached quarters), anchae (women's quarters), dwichae (rear quarters), haengrangchae (servants' quarters), byeoldang (annex), rear garden, pavilion, and pond.MoreLess
