Yeongyang is a region deeply connected to renowned Korean literary figures. The rural villages preserving the birthplaces of Cho Ji-hoon, Oh Il-do, and Yi Mun-yol are well-maintained.    Administratively located in Wonri-ri, Seokbo-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Dudeul Village means 'a village on a hill.' Ever since Seokgye Yi Si-myeong settled and cultivated this area in 1640 to take refuge from the Byeongja Horan (Manchu invasion of Korea), his descendants of the Jaeryeong Yi clan have lived here as a clan village.
