   One of the Eight Scenic Views of Seocheon, the camellia forest in Maryang-ri, Seo-myeon, is designated Natural Monument No. 169. Here, 85 camellia trees around 500 years old form a dense forest across 8,265㎡. Visiting the camellia forest from late March to early May lets you fully enjoy the red camellia flowers blooming shyly among the green leaves, and climbing up to Dongbaekjeong Pavilion at the top offers a sweeping view of the blue West Sea and the beauty of its sunset.    Wolhaseong Fishing Village Experience

   Wolhaseong Port, whose name means 'a fortress lying beneath the moonlight.' At the end of a road lined with pine forest lies a village leading down to the port. Beyond the village, the West Sea comes into view. Ssangdo and Halmiseom, small islets with their lower halves submerged in water, come into full view at a glance. Visiting in person, it feels very charming and intimate. Among Seocheon's coastal areas, Wolhaseong Village in Seo-myeon has shallow water and a large tidal range, so at low tide a tidal flat over 1km wide is exposed.    Munheon Seowon (Confucian Academy)

   문헌서원

   Munheon Seowon was built in 1594, the 27th year of King Seonjo's reign, to enshrine the two great late-Goryeo scholars Ga-jeong Yi Gok and Mogeun Yi Saek. After it burned down during the Japanese invasions of 1592-98, it was moved and rebuilt in Hansan Gochon in the 3rd year of King Gwanghaegun's reign. The following year (1611), it received a royal charter under the name Munheon Seowon and enshrined the memorial tablets of five men: the two above along with Yi Jong-hak, Yi Ja, and Yi Gae. Today it enshrines the tablets of six men, adding Yi Jong-deok, and holds memorial rites every year in the 3rd and 9th lunar months. \nMoreLess
