   At Goemokjeong Pavilion, located on Gyeryongdae-ro in Sindoan-myeon, Gyeryong-si, Chungcheongnam-do, three ancient zelkova trees over 500 years old greet visitors. Legend has it that when King Taejo Yi Seong-gye chose Sindoan as his capital site and was surveying the surrounding terrain, Great Master Muhak passed through and planted his walking stick by the roadside -- where it took root, grew leaves, and became a great old tree.    Sagye Historic House

   Located at 122-4 Sagye-ro, Duma-myeon, Gyeryong-si, Chungcheongnam-do, Sagye Historic House was the home of mid-Joseon scholar Kim Jang-saeng (pen name Sagye). In his later years, Sagye gave up his official post, returned to his hometown to live, and trained the next generation of scholars there, including his son Kim Jip (pen name Sindokjae), Song Si-yeol (pen name Uam), and Song Jun-gil (pen name Dongchundang). Entering through the main gate, the men's quarters facing you catches your eye first. The long room attached beside the gate now serves as the Sagye Exhibition Hall, where you can view Sagye's life story and relics, as well as information on his teachers and students.MoreLess

   Insisting on native, traditional flavor and now in its third generation, this is the original restaurant of the local sundae (blood sausage) alley.
