   General Sin Sung-gyeom Historic Site

   신숭겸장군 유적지

   Sin Sung-gyeom (?–927) is the founding ancestor of the Pyeongsan Sin clan, and in 918, together with Bae Hyeon-gyeong, Hong Yu, and Bok Ji-gyeom, he helped overthrow Gungye and enthrone Wang Geon, contributing to the founding of Goryeo. As the leading meritorious subject in the founding of Goryeo, General Sin Sung-gyeom had served as a cavalry commander under Gungye's state of Taebong. Designated a Daegu Metropolitan City monument in 1974, the historic site of General Sin Sung-gyeom — posthumous title Jangjeolgong, Grand Preceptor of Goryeo — enshrines a memorial tablet and portrait honoring his loyalty, along with a Martyrdom Altar and a Monument to Loyalty.    Donghwasa Temple (Daegu)

   Located on the southern foot of Palgongsan, 22km northeast of downtown Daegu, the temple was founded in the 15th year of Silla King Sojji's reign (493) by the monk Geukdal, originally named Yugasa. When State Preceptor Simji rebuilt it in the 7th year of King Heungdeok's reign (832), paulownia trees on the temple grounds are said to have bloomed in full even in winter, and so the temple was renamed Donghwasa ("Paulownia Blossom Temple").
