A Healing Trip in the Evergreen Forest of Oeyeondo

Among the more than 70 islands belonging to Boryeong, Oeyeondo, the southernmost, is a small island that lures travelers with its beautiful coastal scenery. The trekking course around Bonghwasan at the island's eastern tip and Manjaesan at its western tip is one great way to experience Oeyeondo. In particular, the evergreen forest the island holds is designated a Natural Monument; this forest of camellias and Machilus thunbergii trees has been cultivated over several hundred years.

   Daecheonhang Port is both a hub for gathering seafood and a gateway for Boryeong's island residents and travelers. It is the departure and arrival point for passenger ferries bound for Wonsando, Oeyeondo, Sapsido, Nokdo, and other islands. As such, it bustles with travelers heading to the large and small islands of the West Sea during the summer vacation season and on weekends, and a steady stream of anglers chartering boats for fishing.
