   Our proud warships, once commanding the open seas, now stand honorably retired at Sapgyoho Battleship Park, which has been developed into a unique space where visitors can experience the history and culture of the Navy and Marine Corps. With themed exhibition halls for the Navy and Marine Corps, the interior and exterior of the ships, and displays of aircraft, the park lets growing children feel a sense of wonder about the sea and closeness to the Navy and Marine Corps, while its 3D theater, game center, carnival plaza, and indoor recreation facilities let visitors forget everything for a while and immerse themselves in a fun, childlike world.    Solmoe Shrine

   솔뫼 성지

   "Solmoe" sits at the heart of "Naepo," the finest land in Chungcheong-do, and its name means "a small hill covered in pine trees." Here, on August 21, 1821, Korea's first Catholic priest, St. Andrew Kim Dae-geon, was born, and he lived here until age seven, when he moved with his grandfather Kim Taek-hyeon to Handeok-dong (present-day Golbaemasil) in Yongin to escape religious persecution. Recently, a memorial hall detailing the life of Father Kim Dae-geon and Solmoe Shrine, along with a memorial church enshrining his remains, have been newly built and are now open to visitors.    Myeoncheon Eupseong (Town Fortress)

   Dangjin, along with Seosan and Taean, has long been home to important sea routes leading to China. As such, it served not only as a major trade route with China but also as a key strategic point for national defense. Myeoncheon Eupseong is said to have been built in the 16th year of King Chungnyeol's reign of Goryeo (1290), though it is presumed there had likely been fortifications here since the early Baekje period to defend against foreign invasion. Myeoncheon Eupseong was a fortress equipped with gates on all four sides — east, west, south, and north. It was rebuilt in the 13th year of King Taejong of Joseon and repaired during King Gyeongjong's reign.
