Walking Korea's Largest Mountain Fortress

Walk along the country's longest mountain fortress and discover the true face of Geumjeongsan, the mountain that guards Busan. Geumjeongsanseong Fortress is a massive fortress about 17,000m long, connecting Dongnae, Yangsan, and Gijang. Taking the cable car from Geumgang Park up to Geumjeongsan, the course starting at Nammun (South Gate), passing the first watchtower, and descending to Sanseong Village is a favorite route for many.

   Geumjeongsanseong Fortress

   Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, designated Historic Site No. 215. At the tail end of the Baekdudaegan mountain range, Busan's Geumjeongsan is home not only to the ancient temple Beomeosa, said to have been founded by the great monk Uisang during the reign of King Munmu of Silla, but also to Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, built during the Three Kingdoms period — the largest fortress of its kind in Korea.
