Sang-Hajodo, Exploring the Islands

Taking a boat from Paengmok Port, you can visit both Sangjodo and Hajodo at once. Connected by the Jodo Bridge, Sang-Hajodo offers the view from Dorisan Observatory -- which British naval officer Basil Hall once called 'the pinnacle of the world' -- along with Hajodo Lighthouse, where time seems to stand still, and Sinjeon Beach, all found scattered across the island.

   Sangjodo

   In the early 1600s, the Sunchang Seol clan settled in Maengseong-ri, Donggeochado, and Yulmok on Sangjodo. Around the same time, the Yangju Heo clan moved to Yulmok from Gyeonggi-do, and in the early 1700s, Heo Jeong-gil of the Yangju Heo clan settled there from Uisin-myeon.
