Slow City Jeungdo Trip

Jeungdo is the town certified as Korea's first Slow City. With the completion of the Jeungdo Bridge, it became an island in name only, making it much easier to visit. Jeungdo is home to Taepyeong Salt Farm, a modern cultural heritage site where visitors can experience not only the history of Korean salt farms but also salt-farming activities and the ecology of the sticky tidal flats, as well as stroll along beautiful beaches and tidal flats such as Ujeon Beach and Jjangttungeo Bridge.

   Sinan Undersea Relics Excavation Monument

   In 1975, a fisherman's net off the coast of Dodeokdo, Bangchuk-ri, Jeungdo-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do brought up celadon from China's Longquan kilns, leading to the first discovery of the site. From 1976 to 1984, about 28,000 undersea relics were excavated, including celadon, white porcelain, coins, and everyday items. This excavation drew intense interest from scholars around the world; its findings helped reorganize the chronology of Chinese ceramic history, provided new material for research into the trade history of Korea, China, and Japan, and revealed the reality of ancient trading ships, leaving a lasting achievement in the study of East Asian cultural history.\nMoreLess

   Jjangttungeo Bridge (Mudskipper Bridge)

   Jeungdo, Sinan-gun's treasured island, is blessed with pristine natural surroundings and was designated Asia's first Slow City on December 1, 2007. Jeungdo's famous Jjangttungeo Bridge is a 470m wooden footbridge floating above the tidal flats, built so visitors can observe the creatures living in the mud.    Jeungdo Ujeon Beach
