A Relaxing Walk Along Suritgil

Gunpo has developed the Suritgil trails, which carry stories through the Suri-san area and downtown. Among them, Pungyeongsori-gil (Sound of Scenery Trail) starts at Surisan Station and runs 5km past the Suri-san Forest Bathing Site to the thousand-year-old temple Surisa. From the forest bathing site to Surisa is about 3km, so the course isn't long, but it's enough to feel the charm of Suri-san.

   Surisa Temple

   수리사

   Founded during the reign of King Jinheung of Silla, the temple sits on the southwestern slope of Suri-san. Later, a royal descendant is said to have had a vision of Buddha while praying here, so the mountain came to be called Bulgyeonsan, but in the 1940s it was renamed Suri-san after the temple. The lone road leading to Surisa's entrance runs through dense forest along a valley, offering an outstanding view, and the Suri-san ridges encircling the temple feel like a folding screen wrapped around it.\nMoreLess
