   Daegwallyeong Samyang Ranch

   Samyang Daegwallyeong Ranch, the largest ranch of its kind in Asia, was developed by turning about 6 million pyeong of unused highland, at an elevation of 850–1,470m in the Daegwallyeong area of Gangwon-do, into pastureland, leading the way for Korea's mountain livestock farming. Here you'll find green meadows and herds of cattle grazing leisurely, with the East Sea visible in the distance beyond the towns of Gangneung and Jumunjin. From Hwangbyeongsan, the ranch's highest point, you can see Gyeongpodae, Jumunjin, Yeongokcheon Stream, Cheonghakdong, and Sogeumgang Valley in Gangneung to the east, while to the west a panorama of the entire ranch unfolds.    [Napjak Sikdang] Famous for Hoenggye osam-bulgogi (pork-and-squid bulgogi), Napjak Sikdang serves light, savory bulgogi made with fresh ingredients and the restaurant's own distinctive seasoning. The side dishes, too, carry the owner's homemade flavor and whet the appetite. [Gohyang Iyagi] Photographs taken by the owner are displayed throughout, adding to the atmosphere. The traditional dish gondeurebap (rice with wild thistle greens) has been reimagined as a stone-pot rice wrapped in dried laver, just as it was in the old days.    Uiyaji Wind Village

   Uiyaji Wind Village, located in Doam-myeon Hoenggye 2-ri, Pyeongchang-gun, in the pristine highlands of Daegwallyeong, is a mountain village sitting at the very top of Daegwallyeong, at an elevation of 750–800m. Because the first snow falls early here, it is also considered a birthplace of skiing in Korea. Flocks of sheep grazing peacefully across seemingly endless grasslands make for a refreshing scene rarely found elsewhere in Korea.
