An Exploration Trail to Scenic Wonders Formed by Volcanoes

A course that circles on foot through Sanbangsan, Yongmeori Coast, and Songaksan, representative attractions of western Jeju. The coastal scenery viewed from midway up Sanbangsan and the cliffs of Yongmeori Coast — considered Jeju's oldest volcanic landform — are the highlights. The views of Hyeongjeseom, Gapado, and Marado seen from Songaksan are also not to be missed. Sagye Coastal Road, which runs alongside the sea, also forms part of Jeju Olle Trail Course 10.

   Sanbangsan

   산방산

   Standing prominently in the plains of southwestern Jeju, visible from almost anywhere, Sanbangsan is a bell-shaped lava dome volcano. Between 150 and 300m up the southern cliff of the lava dome, weathering pits and talus of various shapes and sizes have developed, and at around 150m above sea level lies Sanbanggul, a sea cave about 10m long and roughly 5m wide and high, facing the sea — one of the Ten Scenic Views of Yeongju.
