Shall We Listen for the Songs of the Old Raftsmen?

Auraji takes its name from the meeting and mingling of the Songcheon and Goljicheon streams, and has long been a raft route used to transport timber along the water all the way to Hanyang (old Seoul). It is well known as a place where visitors can ride rail bikes using the decommissioned Gujeolli and Auraji station lines, and along the Goljicheon stream one can also find Gumijeong Pavilion, built atop the rock bed of the stream, and the Baekdudaegan Herb Village, where visitors can enjoy various experiences themed around medicinal herbs.

   Gumijeong Pavilion

   Located in Bongsan-ri, 6km from the township office, Gumijeong is a pavilion built by Sugodang Yi Ja-seon, who served as Gongjo Chamui (Third Deputy Minister of Public Works) during the reign of King Sukjong of Joseon, as a retreat after resigning from office to retire to Jeongseon in seclusion.
