   At an elevation of 1,242m, Minjujisan formed where the Sobaek Mountains — which branch off from the Taebaek Mountains, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula — dip down at Chupungnyeong Pass before rising again. High peaks of 1,100-1,200m in elevation, including Samdobong (spanning the three provinces of North Chungcheong's Yeongdong, North Gyeongsang's Gimcheon, and North Jeolla's Muju) to the south, and Seokgibong, Minjujisan, and Gakhosan to the north, surround the area like a folding screen, carving out a deep valley more than 20km long — this is Mulhan Valley.MoreLess
