Lost in the Sea of Green Barley Fields and White Buckwheat Blossoms

At Boringara Hagwon Farm, spring brings a blue-green sea of barley, and autumn transforms the fields into a snowy white expanse of buckwheat blossoms -- scenery so beautiful it has become a popular filming location for movies and dramas. Mujang Eupseong, a walled town built in the Taejong era of Joseon, is well known as the base of the peasant army that led the Donghak Peasant Revolution. Through its south gate, Jinmumun, along with its guesthouse (gaeksa) and government office (dongheon) buildings, you can get a sense of what a Joseon-era walled town looked like.

The wooden plaque carved with the character "Gwol" (闕), hung in the main hall, symbolizes the king; on the first and fifteenth of every month, local magistrates and officials would pay their respects here.
