A Journey to Feel the Scars of the Korean War

Geoje Island still bears traces of the prisoner-of-war camp from the Korean War. As a historic site that showed, in miniature, the ideological conflict of the Cold War era, it lets visitors confront the tragic scenes of modern history through vivid materials and records. Nearby are Sanbangsan Biwon, where you can enjoy a quiet stroll among various wildflowers and rare plants, and the birthplace and memorial hall of the poet Cheongma Yu Chi-hwan.

   Located in Gohyeon-ri, Sinhyeon-eup, where Geoje City Hall stands, this is the site of the largest prisoner-of-war camp from the Korean War. Following the eastern foot of Mt.
